How Do College Admissions Process Work?
There's a reason why you need to apply for college early. Do you know how college admissions process work? To put it simply your admission will be seen by more than one person and many criteria are going to be evaluated such as your past records and SAT results. These are only if you have the criteria that will get you eligible for a college. There are some cases where you will not get an absolute answer and the wait can be painful. Understanding how the admission process works can give you an edge when you will apply for college.
First of all, the reason why it takes so long for admission to go through is because your admission is reviewed by more than only one person. Depending on which college you decide to choose your application may be reviewed more than twice. Usually the first person reviewing your application could be any staff among the college and the next one will be a teacher or someone who is related to your program. Needless to say the more your application will be reviewed, the more specific the personal will be. Some of you may be worried by your past high school records.
Having a suspension or disciplinary action during your high school in your record is never a good idea. It doesn't make your application look good and unfortunately there is no way it around it so you may be at a disadvantage compared to another student who has a similar record to yours without any troubles. Everyone was young and stupid once so even if you had criminal record, it's important that you remain honest because although we do not like he reminded of our mistakes it's even worse to try and hide those mistakes since college is easily have access to your high school records. As if wasn't easy enough to get accepted, some of you may be stuck with unclear replies.
Sometimes, you won't get a direct answer. "You're not necessarily accepted yet but your application wasn't denied either" is a painful answer because you're still uncertain if you're going to be accepted or not and all you can do is hope that you get the right reply in time. This usually happens when there are too many students applying for the same college. When that happens many students will be put on a waiting list and the closer you are to being first on the waiting list the closer you are to being accepted to college of your choice. In order to avoid this situation is always good to have good SAT results. Probably the first thing you will do before being accepted to any college is to have the SAT exam before college. Depending on the college SAT results may not matter but in case it does it's important to score a great mark if you do not want to be put on a waiting list and receive your reply at the last minute. This SAT is also usually the first requirement that most colleges will want to receive from you even before you send your application. There is no secret formula to having a successful college admission. All you need to do is work hard, get informed, be honest and enjoy your time. Once you have understood how college admissions process work, it becomes easier to develop a strategy before applying for college which will prove to make your admissions even more optimal. All this is also a lot easier when you are not facing financial troubles so you may want to consider financial aid if you need to.
