Unfortunately there is no Ivy League in the southern states so if you can not stand the cold you should look for not a college that match your interests best instead of applying for the name. The reason why you want to this is because you won't have to face rejection but also in your own interest. The reason is simple the acceptance rate is not so high.

The acceptance rate for regular applicants is at most 20% and is more around 10 and 15% borderlines which means out of every five students less than one will be excepted. The odds are pretty grim but if you are an early planner the rates go up to 35% which makes it easier for you to be accepted earlier than if you applied one semester earlier. it's definitely better for you to apply earlier than expected because you will have better chances and in the case you were not accepted, you'll be able to move on earlier.

Because the rejection rates are so high among Ivy League colleges it's important that you have the proper requirements met and that you are more than just motivated to study there. And these are serious colleges who will educate serious students and if you are one of them you'll blend perfectly. Ivy League college admissions are strict for a reason because if they weren't they wouldn't be able to maintain such a high image among future candidates and graduated students.
